Can cats transmit diseases to human if you eat after them?

My cat hunts a lot and brings home rats, birds, and bunnies. Recently my friend fed my cat mashed potatoes to him off of a spoon and then ate after him. I know that my cat has had the usual shots. But is there any way possible for my friend to catch any diseases? Thanks!
