Can ELECTRICITY be transferred in the form of electromagnetic waves from one place to another...?

About 20 years ago, a research group in Canada sent aloft an electric powered airplane. It had a small battery, but not enough reserves to take off or stay aloft. It had a microwave receiver on board and a microwave antenna was aimed at it and provided the electrical power needed. What became of this I have no idea. If a search for microwave powered aircraft turns up nothing, then see if you can contact the Canadian National Research Council and ask them. Here is there web site. a href="http://www.nrc-cnrc.gc.ca/index.html" rel="nofollow"http://www.nrc-cnrc.gc.ca/index.html/a
